A tow truck takes away a car after an accident Tuesday evening on Highway 41 at Zena Dr. The accident sent two to the hospital and left one unconscious before Bartow County EMS personnel arrived on the scene.Two Bartow County EMS units, along with other agencies, responded to a two-car accident on Highway 41 at Zena Drive at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Once on the scene, EMS found two patients injured. The first, an elderly female, initially was unconscious and unresponsive.
The crews began to work with the patient and, during extrication, the female regained consciousness but was still confused due to a possible head injury.
The crew also found the female to have a lower leg fracture. The second EMS crew on the scene found a conscious male patient in the second vehicle complaining of chest pain, arm pain and rib pain.
The crews transported both to Kennestone Hospital due to their injuries and the visual damage to the vehicles.
In an earlier incident, BCEMS responded to a male lying on the side of the roadway on Highway 293 near Lake Allatoona, possibly struck by a vehicle. The call came into the 911 center at 1:28 a.m. Tuesday.
BCEMS arrived on the scene to find a male conscious but confused. The male appeared to be in shock due to a fracture of the lower leg and a possible spinal injury. The patient was transported to Kennestone Hospital for treatment.
