MARYVILLE, MO : Driver injured in truck/tractor collision on U.S. Highway 71 ten miles north of Savannah on Thursday, 30th May 2019

A Rosendale man was seriously injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 71 ten miles north of Savannah.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a southbound 2001 Peterbilt dump truck, driven by Ryan A. Eckstein, 34, Ravenwood, topped a hill and was unable to slow down sufficiently to avoid hitting a southbound Kobota tractor driven partially on the shoulder by Derek W. Holt, 39, Rosendale.

The patrol report stated that Holt was thrown from the tractor, and that both vehicles came to uncontrolled stops on the west side of the highway.

Holt was transported by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt.
