Bismarck, ND : Semis crash near Hannaford on Tuesday, October, 17th 2017

Two semi truck drivers were injured in a Griggs County crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 4:43 p.m. on Griggs County Road 26, a gravel road about 7 miles west of Hannaford. The driving conditions were calm but visibility was reduced with heavy dust in the air, the patrol said.

Patrick Kraemer, 60, of McHenry, N.D., was driving west on a 2006 Peterbilt semi pulling a hopper bottom trailer, while Taylor Rose, 29, Wimbledon, N.D., was driving east in a 2004 Peterbilt semi pulling a hopper bottom trailer. Both drivers were unable to evade the crash because of low visibility, and both trucks and trailers crashed and entered the ditch, the patrol said.

Both drivers were injured and transported by Cooperstown Ambulance Service to Cooperstown. Kraemer was flown to a Fargo Hospital by Sanford LifeFlight. Rose was flown to a Grand Forks hospital by Valley Med Flight.

It is not known if either driver was wearing a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation by the patrol.

Griggs County Sheriff’s Office, Steele County Sheriff’s Office. Hannaford Fire Department, Cooperstown EMS and Cooperstown Rescue also responded to the scene.
