Boston Twp., MI : One killed in head-on crash involving semi trucks in Ionia County on Wednesday, April 5, 2017

One person was killed and at least two others were injured in a crash involving two commercial trucks and a pickup truck in Ionia County.

The Ionia County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on East Bluewater Highway (M-21) and South Hawley Highway.

A westbound tandem-trailer grain truck collided with a southbound pickup truck at the intersection before crashing head-on with a another commercial truck moving east on M-21, officials said in a news release.

The driver of the eastbound truck, Anthony Nunez, 47, of Hudsonville, died as a result of the crash. A 40-year-old Saranac woman was driving the pickup truck. She and her 18-year-old son suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The news release did not say if the driver of the eastbound semi — a 34-year-old Hemlock man — was injured.
