Bicycle crash killed director of meteorology in Fort Myers
A southwest Florida TV station says that its director of meteorology has died following a bicycle crash.
WBBH reports that Jim Reif, the station's director of meteorology, died Monday night following a Sunday afternoon bicycle accident.
While Reif was riding, his bicycle hit a sign, and he was thrown to the ground. The station says Reif hit his head on the curb.
Reif was a fixture on southwest Florida television since 1979. He worked for WINK, then became chief meteorologist for ABC7 in 1999, and more recently he moved to NBC2 and became the director of meteorology for the company's television stations.
