Dade City, FL : Two women killed in crash with semitrailer truck on Trilby Road in Pasco County on Thursday morning, August 25, 2016
Two women, one from Dade City and the other from Brooksville, died Thursday morning after their car was struck by a semitrailer truck while traveling through a U.S. 98 intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Jerilyn Eileen Del Valle, 73, of Dade City and her passenger, Linda Gafford Adams, 73, of Brooksville both died at the scene of the crash.
Around 9:10 a.m. Del Valle was at a stop sign facing east on Trilby Road in Pasco County and attempted to make a left turn to travel north on U.S. 98. As she drove into the intersection, her 2016 Subaru Outback was struck by a 2009 Mack 700 semi traveling south on U.S. 98.
Del Valle's Outback came to a stop on the east shoulder of U.S. 98, but the semi overturned. The truck's driver, 24-year-old Mark Lieberstein of Land O' Lakes, only received minor injuries. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and all involved were wearing their seat belts, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
