Newstead, NY : Man dies after crashing ATV into tree in Erie County on Sunday, July 26th, 2015

Police say a man has died after crashing his all-terrain vehicle into a tree in Erie County.

Sheriffs responded to a report of an ATV accident shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday on Block Church Road in Newstead, roughly 40 miles from Buffalo.

A passer-by noticed the man stuck underneath the vehicle and called for help.

Officials say the victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident remains unknown.

The crash is under investigation by the Sherriff's Investigation Unit and ATV Unit.
