Two people on a motorcycle suffered serious injuries on Saturday afternoon after the driver laid down his bike to avoid an oncoming car on Colo. 119, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Trooper Alisha Danko said that for unknown reason, a the driver of a 2016 northbound Ford Focus moved into the southbound lanes of Colo. 119 about a half mile north of Colo. 72.
"The Ford Focus was aimed head on at the motorcycle," Danko said. "The motorcycle driver laid down his bike in an effort to avoid a collision."
She said the Ford Escape moved back into the northbound lane and did not strike the motorcycle, but the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were both ejected.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital via ambulance, and the passenger was airlifted to a hospital. Neither were wearing helmets, Danko said.
She said the driver of the Ford Focus, 71-year-old Robin Harris, of Superior, was cited for careless driving resulting in injury and no proof of insurance. Drugs, alcohol and speed are not suspected.
