Akron, OH : Pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 224 in Summit County early Monday morning, March 28, 2016

Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Monday morning in Summit County.

Police say it happened on Route 224 East at the Main Street off-ramp shortly after 6 a.m.

The victim has been identified as Randall R. Seaver, 58, of New Franklin.

Police say Seaver's truck struck a deer on the entrance ramp and he exited his vehicle to pull the deer to the side of the road. While doing so, he was struck by an eastbound Jeep Liberty. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Summit County Medical Examiner was dispatched to the scene.

Two lanes of traffic were closed in the area as crews investigated the accident scene.
