Greeley, CO : 33-year-old man dies in crash in north Brighton early Friday, July 1, 2016
A 33-year-old Greeley man died early Friday after police and witnesses say he drove his truck through a stop sign, and was T-boned by a car.
Brighton Police Sgt. Mark Kohn reported Friday that Luis Alberto Archuleta-Lopez, 33, of Greeley, was driving a black Dodge Durango, crossing U.S. 85, headed east about 5:03 a.m. Witnesses said the Durango ran a stop sign and was T-boned at the intersection of Weld County roads 27 and 4 by a Ford Taurus, driven by Hope Adame, 54, of Fort Lupton. The crash sent both vehicles off the roadway, Kohn said.
Adame had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. She was wearing her seat belt, Kohn said. Kohn said Lopez was already deceased when emergency personnel arrived; his vehicle’s engine was engulfed in flames as well. He was not wearing a seat belt, but he was not ejected.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash.
Lopez worked at a nearby drilling rig, Kohn stated.
