Lisle, NY : Charles H. Clute, 43, hauling about 4,000 gallons of liquid manure when truck overturned on Tuesday, April 7, 2015
New York State Police in Whitney Point responded shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday to a tractor-trailer spill in the area of 1448 Caldwell Hill Road in Lisle.
Police said Charles H. Clute, 43, was operating a 2000 Volvo tractor-trailer northbound on Caldwell Hill Road when he drifted partly onto the soft shoulder and then overturned into the east ditch.
Clute was hauling about 4,000 gallons of liquid manure, police said.
The tractor-trailer came to rest in the ditch on its passenger side, dumping the manure into the ditch, roadway and a nearby private property.
The accident is being investigated by the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
The spill is being investigated and monitored by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response Team. At this time, police said, traffic is open.
