El Paso, TX : 26-year-old man killed in motorcycle crash in Central El Paso on Saturday night, January 28, 2017
A 26-year-old El Paso man was killed in a motorcycle accident late Saturday night in Central El Paso, El Paso police reported.
Alfonso Armendariz IV was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was traveling northbound along the 1200 block of Copia Street at about 10 p.m. at a high rate of speed, police said.
He lost control of the motorcycle and hit a wooden utility pole. He was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.
Armendariz was not wearing a helmet and was the sole occupant of the motorcycle. Police believe that speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash. The investigation continues.
This is the fourth traffic-related fatality in El Paso so far this year, compared to six during the same period of 2016. This is the first motorcycle fatality of the year.
