GIBSON CITY, IL : Police ID victims in Ford County crash on Thursday, January, 4th 2018

Two women were killed Thursday after an accident on Illinois 9 east of Gibson City and north of Saybrook.

Illinois State Police identified the victims as Kelsey R. Fottler Bridgwater, 21, of Saybrook, and her passenger, Charly J. Jesse, 24, of Jacksonville, Fla.

Police said Bridgwater was driving east on Illinois 9 at 1300 East Road when she lost control of her Mitsubishi convertible and hit a semi head-on. Bridgwater and Jesse were pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi driver was identified as Floyd P. Smith, 53, of Fairborn, Ohio. Police did not say whether he was injured.

The road was shut down for about five hours after the accident, which occurred in Drummer Township in Ford County.
