The woman killed after her car crashed into a city bus in North Attleboro has been identified as former Attleboro Mayor, Judith Robbins.
The North Attleboro Fire Department says it appears Robbins suffered from cardiac arrest before the accident.
The bus was stopped for passengers on Route 1 on South Washington Street just before 3 p.m. when Robbins' vehicle stuck it. Officials also say it looks like she never hit the breaks.
Four other people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas tells ABC6 that Robbins worked with his administration throughout his 12 years as mayor, and that he and the office is "devastated" to hear the of the sudden and unexpected loss.
Richard Conti Councilor at Large says, "She had the patients of Jobe, and the ferocity of a tiger, all at the same time. Judy was amazing."
Robbins served as the Mayor of Attleboro for 12 years, and was on the City Council for 16 years. She currently worked with Dumas on the Attleboro Redevelopment Authority where she was the Chairperson since 2011.
"She became the chair of the Attleboro re-development authority, and has done a wonderful job. Just really bringing the city back, and over coming a lot of the issues we had already had," says Council President Frank Cook.
