Johnston,SC : Johnston police officer dies following crash on December, Friday 8th 2017
The Johnston Police Department chief released additional details in the death of one of their own and announced funeral arrangements. Chief Lamaz Robinson issued a press release stating Corporal James “Eric” Chapman was responding in emergency mode to a call for service Friday around 10:15 p.m. when he was involved in a single vehicle crash on Highway 23 near JET Middle School. Chief Robinson said Cpl. Chapman was transported to Augusta University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
The press release goes on to say Cpl. Chapman is a lifelong resident of Saluda County, joining the Johnston Police Department in July 2015. He served in the United States Marines Corp and was deployed to Afghanistan during that time.
Funeral services for Cpl. Chapman will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Saluda Church of God, in Saluda, SC. He will be buried at Ridge Spring Memorial Gardens in Ridge Spring, SC. The family will receive other family members, friends and the public at Ramey Funeral Home in Saluda on Tuesday, December 12 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are open to the public.
