Phoenix ,AZ : Elderly woman killed in Glendale Avenue car crash on early Saturday afternoon ,July 25th 2015

Police are investigating a car crash that left one elderly woman dead early Saturday afternoon.

Officers said a vehicle traveling westbound on Glendale Avenue crossed the median and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle.

The driver of the cross-over vehicle was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A Vehicular Crimes Unit Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and observed signs and symptoms consistent with drug use.

The driver's blood was obtained for analysis pursuant to a search warrant.

Criminal charges are pending.

All roads in the area of the collision have since been reopened.
