Frederick County, MD : One person injured after a Single-vehicle crash near Mount Airy on Thursday night, April 28, 2016
One person was taken to a hospital on Thursday night after a vehicle crashed in the Mount Airy area, according to Sgt. Mike Grunwell with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.
Darian D. Allen, of Baltimore, was driving the car, a Honda Acura 3.2 CL, when it crossed over the center line and struck a utility pole head-on at Penn Shop Road and Golf Club Court, according to a Friday morning press release by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. An emergency call was dispatched at 6:56 p.m. Allen was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment, the release states.
Also injured in the crash was Allen's adult male passenger, who was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition, the release states. Deputies were only identifying the passenger as a Baltimore man until his family could be notified, the release states.
The release provided no further details regarding what caused the crash other than to state that collision reconstruction experts had ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor as of early Friday.
Deputy 1st Class Nathan Rector was still investigating the circumstances of the crash as of Friday morning.
