Columbus, OH : 4-year-old child critically injured in a car crash in interstate 70 on Friday evening October 2 2015
A 4-year-old child is recovering after being seriously injured in a car crash Friday evening.
Columbus police said a 4-year-old child was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition after a crash on Interstate 70 near I-270, near Wilson Road. The child was in a car seat in the back seat when the car struck construction equipment near the road. A parent of the child was also transported.
Sgt. Isaac Bridges said the car “appears to have veered off the road and hit an ODOT traffic sign board.” Police are continuing to investigate.
Officials closed I-70 eastbound in the area just after 6 p.m., diverting traffic to I-270 south and backing up traffic for several miles. The highway reopened just before 10 p.m.
