Waco, TX : Motorcyclist severely injured in crash on May, Wednesday 3rd 2017

A woman who was reportedly putting gasoline into her car on the side of an Interstate-35 access road was struck and killed by a motorcyclist late Wednesday afternoon, Lacy Lakeview Police Chief John Truehitt said.

Lacy Lakeview officers were called to the access road near the 4800 block of I-35, north of Crescent Street, at about 5:30 p.m., after the woman was hit. Truehitt said the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was putting gas in her car using a portable container when the motorcyclist struck her as he was riding north, causing fatal injuries to the woman.

Truehitt said the motorcyclist, whose identity also has not been released, was thrown from his motorcycle. Emergency responders took both subjects to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center with severe injuries.

The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Truehitt said the man suffered significant injuries and remained in critical condition Wednesday evening.

"So far, it appears that it is just one of those horrible, horrible accidents," Truehitt said.

The crash remains under investigation. The identities of both subjects were not immediately available pending notification of next of kin.
