Knoxville ,TN : One person killed and children injured after east Knoxville crash on Saturday evening ,August 1st 2015

Knoxville Police Department is looking for the driver of a gray Toyota and a semi truck who left the scene after a fatal car crash Saturday evening.

Police say the driver tried to merge with traffic from the shoulder of Interstate 640 westbound along mile marker eight. That's when Angel Geronimo Francisco, 36, who was driving a Ford Expedition, swerved to avoid hitting the Toyota.

Francisco's SUV flipped several times, ejecting and killing his passenger, Margarita Andres Sebastopol, 24. Two infants and another adult, Angelica Mercedez Tomas-Pedro, 20, were also thrown from the car and transported to UT Medical Center, according to KPD.

UT Medical Center confirmed those two infants are in the pediatric intensive care unit. Tomas-Pedro is in serious condition. And Geriemus Fransisco, 24, who was not thrown from the car, has been discharged from the hospital.

The driver of the Ford was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt, police said. The infants were in car seats, but they were not attached to the car. Fatal accident investigators said proper use of seat belts could have changed the outcome of the crash.

Thomas Turpin works right off I-640. He said what he heard Saturday night is unlike anything he's ever heard before.

"It sounded like it was coming through your living room, almost. It was that loud. It was like it was within 20 feet of me or so," Turpin said.
