Knoxville, TN : Two people injured after a fiery single-vehicle wreck in North Knox County on Wednesday night, February 3, 2016

Charges are pending following a fiery crash that injured two people in North Knox County on Wednesday night, authorities said.

The single-vehicle wreck was reported on the 7600 block of Bell Road, where the driver lost control and struck a tree, causing the car to catch fire, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

A female passenger was thrown from the vehicle and later was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by LifeStar helicopter.

Deputies were able to pull the male driver from the car. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Neither occupant's name has been released.

According to KCSO, deputies had spotted the KIA shortly after 7:30 p.m. driving at a high rate of speed on East Emory Road. The driver crossed the double-yellow traffic line and turned onto Brown Gap Road, then onto Bell.

It was not immediately clear whether deputies were pursuing the vehicle before the crash.
