Leesburg, VA : Woman dies in Route 15 crash in Loudoun County on Tuesday morning, January 3, 2017

A 38-year-old Brunswick, Md., woman lost her life in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Route 15 south of Lucketts.

The driver of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Sport was traveling south on Route 15 when he reportedly fell asleep and crossed the centerline of the road. The Jeep struck a northbound 2014 Kia head-on at about 7:26 a.m.

The driver of the Kia died at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The driver of the Jeep, Nathaniel W. Nelson, 26, of Charlottesville, was taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Nelson was charged with reckless driving.

A passenger in the Jeep was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
