New Castle, PA : Tree on highway leads to crash, clean-up on Monday, 12th September 2016
A trailer truck and two cars crashed on Monday morning when all three hit a fallen tree on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township.
According to a Pennsylvania state police report, the tractor-trailer truck, driven by Henry C. Busse, 66, of Petersburg, Ohio, was eastbound on Route 422 about 4:30 a.m. Monday when it struck a tree that had fallen across the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Police said A 2008 Mercury Milan, driven by Michael F. Abbinanti, 27, of New Castle, also eastbound, struck the tree across the road, and a 2015 Honda, driven by Jeffery M. Ross, 44, of New Castle, also struck part of the tree while eastbound on Route 422.
The tractor-trailer reportedly leaked hydraulic fluid, necessitating a clean-up that contributed to a two-hour closure of the highway's eastbound lanes.
Police said all vehicles were disabled and towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.
