PHILLIPS, ME : Driver dies in crash on icy Maine road on Saturday, January 28th 2017

Police say a Maine man is dead after the pickup truck he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer truck on slippery roads.

Loren Keim, 21, of Dixfield, died in the Saturday morning crash in Phillips, police said.

Franklin County Sheriff Department Sgt. Matthew Brann said that the truck was headed north on Route 4 when Keim's vehicle struck the axles on the trailer, causing catastrophic damage to his vehicle.

Keim was the son of Republican state Sen. Lisa Keim.

Sheriff Scott Nichols says the roads were "terribly slippery." He called it a terrible accident.
