LaGRANGE TOWNSHIP, OH : A 20-year-old Trumbull County man was killed on April, Sunday 23rd 2017
A 20-year-old Trumbull County man was killed Sunday after his dirt bike was struck by an SUV, the State Highway Patrol reports.
Jeffrey Cooper, 20, of Cortland, died from injuries in the crash, state troopers say. He was not wearing a helmet.
According to the Highway Patrol, Cooper was riding a 2008 Yamaha dirt bike at 3:40 p.m. when he left a private drive at 40500 Parsons Road, went left-of-center and into the eastbound lane.
Cooper ended up hitting a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by a 36-year-old Grafton woman head-on.
The woman's two young sons, ages 5 and 6, were in car seats in the back of the SUV, the patrol says. No one in the Explorer was injured.
Troopers do not suspect alcohol and drugs were involved. However, excessive speed likely was a factor, the patrol says.
The crash remains under investigation.
