Erie, PA : Erie police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Erie police are investigating a two-vehicle crash at a westside intersection that trapped a woman in her sport-utility vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened on Tuesday at about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of West 34th and Maple streets. A Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on West 34th Street, reportedly at a high speed, when it appears it went through a stop sign and was struck by a Nissan Sentra that was traveling south on Maple Street and had the right of way, Erie police Patrolman Scott Kornetz said.
The Tahoe spun before coming to rest on its driver’s side, facing east, on West 34th Street west of the intersection. The Nissan came to rest in the middle of the intersection.
Erie firefighters were called to the scene to free the woman from the vehicle. She was taken by EmergyCare to UPMC Hamot for treatment.
The female driver of the Nissan was not injured in the crash.
Police shut down the intersection while emergency crews remained at the scene.
