Shaker Heights , OH : Jogger was struck by a car on South Park Boulevard between Cortland Boulevard and Eaton Road on Saturday , January 24th 2015

Police released more information Monday morning after a jogger was struck by a car on South Park Boulevard between Cortland Boulevard and Eaton Road around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say that James Caffrey, 51, of Shaker Heights, was a fifth grade teacher at Woodbury School in Shaker Heights.

Police say Caffrey was taken to University Hospitals after the incident and died.

The driver of the vehicle, according to police, stopped and ran off on foot after the accident and has not been located.

Shaker police say that, prior to striking Caffrey, University Heights police tried to stop this driver for a traffic stop but he drove off.

University Heights police say there was no pursuit of the vehicle.

Both police departments have dash cam of what happened but will not be releasing it right now as it is evidence.
