Upper Darby, Pennsylvania
Blue Route lanes in Delaware County have reopened after a crash involving an overturned dump truck caused the northbound highway to close between Broomall and Villanova Wednesday morning.
According to PennDOT, the crash happened between Exit 9 and Exit 13 on Interstate 476. Northbound lanes were closed around 4 a.m., and crews were diverting traffic off the road at West Chester Pike for hours. The lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m.
Pennsylvania State Police said later Wednesday morning that the dump truck overturned after it was struck from behind by another vehicle. The driver that hit the dump truck was under the influence and "in the possession of illegal controlled substances" at the time of the collision, PSP said.
