Wilmot,NH : 1 dead after head-on collision on Route 101 in Wilton, police say on September, Wednesday 27th 2017

A portion of Route 101 in Wilton was closed Wednesday due to a crash that left one person dead and another injured.

Wilton police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 101, just east of Russell Hill Road, at 2:55 p.m.

Police said witnesses reported that a blue Honda sedan was traveling west and a white Ford cargo van was traveling east when the Honda crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the Ford head-on.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Route 101 was closed for about 4 1/2 hours.

The accident is still under investigation, and the names of the drivers are being withheld pending the notification of family members.
