Amherst Township, OH: 12-year-old dies after Route 2 crash on eastbound state Route 2 in Amherst Township on Wednesday, 8th August 2018

Authorities have released the name of the 12-year-old girl who died as a result of her injuries following a five-vehicle crash Aug. 8 on eastbound state Route 2 in Amherst Township, according to a news release from the Elyria Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The Cuyahoga County medical examiner identified the victim as Mackenzie Lansberry of Sheffield Village, according to the release.

Mackenzie was among four people transported to hospitals after the crash, the release said.

At 3:31 p.m., a commercial box truck struck a Jeep Liberty driven by a 41-year-old Lorain woman from behind with three children inside, including Mackenzie, according to the release.
