Grand Junction, CO : People wanted on warrants crash into motel, police say on Monday, January 30th 2017
Two people wanted on warrants crashed their car into a Horizon Drive hotel as they eluded Grand Junction police on Monday.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Motel 6, 776 Horizon Drive, as police attempted to contact a woman inside the hotel who had a warrant out for her arrest, police spokeswoman Heidi Davidson said.
Officers spotted the vehicle at the hotel and were doing some research on it when the woman and a man who was with her emerged from a room, jumped into the car and fled. Davidson said the vehicle apparently jumped a curb and struck the building, leaving a roughly 3-foot-by-3-foot hole in the wall. Nobody was injured.
The vehicle, a Honda that police said was distinctive because it has been spray painted, was found unoccupied later in the day in the 700 block of West Mesa Avenue. The man and woman, whom police haven’t identified, remained at large late Monday.
Davidson said she didn’t know why the pair were wanted.
She said officers considered the damage to the hotel building minor and encouraged the manager to have a structural engineer examine it.
