Anderson Township, OH : Hamilton County sheriff's deputy Andrew Helsinger was hospitalized after a crash on early Sunday morning August 31st 2014
A Hamilton County sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a crash in Anderson Township Sunday morning, officials said.
A vehicle struck Deputy Andrew Helsinger's car in the 3800 block of Mount Carmel Road, said Sgt. Tim Nash.
Officials took Helsinger to the hospital where he was evaluated, Nash said.
"He's alert and awake -- it's definitely not life-threatening. He's more banged up than anything," he said. A spokesman confirmed the deputy was treated and released for a dislocated shoulder.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, but officials transported a passenger to the hospital for minor injuries, Nash said.
Alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash, the sergeant said. The other driver, a female, was charged with failure to maintain control. Additional charges may be filed pending the result of an alcohol and drug test, according to sheriff's officials.
The incident happened around 2:45 a.m., according to a Hamilton County dispatcher.
