Methuen, MA : Motorcyclist injured in I-93 crash on Wednesday afternoon, July 6, 2016

A medical helicopter was called to the scene of a motorcycle crash on Interstate 93 northbound near the Route 213 exit Wednesday afternoon, according to state police.

The operator, a 25-year-old man from Salem, N.H., was airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, according to Trooper Paul Sullivan, spokesman for the Massachusetts State Police. He suffered "serious injuries but it "does not look life-threatening," Sullivan said.

The crash happened at 5:19 p.m. Methuen police and firefighters assisted state troopers at the scene. The northbound side of I-93 was shut down so the helicopter could land on the highway, Sullivan said.
