Authorities have identified a man who was fatally hit by a car while walking past a driveway in Las Vegas.

The Clark County coroner says 68-year-old Rene Barreto died Friday after being struck on Desert Inn near Mojave Road.

Police say a Ford van driven by a 43-year-old man was coming out of a private driveway as Barreto was walking in the sidewalk.

They say the driver was in a hurry to get to work and allegedly ran over Barreto, who was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene.

Police have not said if the driver will face charges.
