Newport, AR : Jason Ligons, 36, died after a one-vehicle crash on Highway 17 Sunday night, Oct 25, 2015

A Jackson County man has died following a one-vehicle crash over the weekend.

Jason Ligons, 36, of Newport was killed as a result of the crash, according to Arkansas State Police.

A crash report states Ligons was driving north on Highway 17, also known as Pecan St., when the vehicle ran off the road. It went into a ditch and struck a tree.

The crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday in Newport.

No one else was injured.
