Port Gibson, MS : Man killed instantly, 5 others injured in crash on Highway 61 and Carroll Street early Sunday morning, November 20, 2016
A man on his way to work was killed in an early morning crash in Port Gibson, sending five others to the hospital.
Police Chief Calvin Jackson identifies the victim as 36-year-old Timothy J. Baker of Fayette.
It happened at the intersection of Highway 61 and Carroll Street around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to investigators, Baker was traveling in a 2001 Maxima , north on Hwy. 61 when a Chevy Tahoe made a left turn into his path.
The driver of the Tahoe, Cedric Watson of Port Gibson, was traveling south when authorities said he turned onto Carroll Street.
Four others were in the SUV with Watson at the time of the collision.
All five are hospitalized, listed in stable condition.
Baker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
