Corydon, IN : Corydon killed in Two-vehicle head-on collision near Elizabeth on Saturday 1 October 2016
A Corydon man was killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on collision on S.R. 111 close to Doolittle Hill Road near Elizabeth.
Robert Edick, 45, was traveling southbound at 4:05 p.m. in a maroon 2003 Lincoln LS when he crossed the center line of the roadway, impacting head-on with Amir Mousavi, 45, of New Albany, who was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Edick, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a crash report by Officer Nathan Banet of the Harrison County Sheriff's Dept. The airbags in the Lincoln had deployed.
Mousavi, who was wearing a seat belt and had to be extricated from his Tahoe, was transported by Air Methods air ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville with severe lower leg injuries, according to the report.
Mousavi's vehicle was up against the guardrail with the rear tires up on the guardrail due to the impact.
Mousavi, who, according to the police report, was calm despite being trapped in the vehicle, said he was approaching Doolittle Hill Road when he saw the Lincoln cross the center line and head straight toward his vehicle. All he could do was get over to the guardrail before the impact, it said.
