Horicon, WI: Hwy 33 reopens 10 hours after fiery crash on Thursday, July 16th 2015
A crash shut down Highway 33 east of Horicon for 10 hours Thursday.Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said a car and a tanker collided at the center line on Hwy 33 around 8:30 a.m.The tanker, which was carrying ethanol, overturned and caught fire.View NewsChopper 12 video from the sceneThe driver of the semi, which rolled over and ignited, escaped through a door at the top of the overturned tanker as flames burned around him.The Chevy Malibu that collided with the tanker landed about 200 feet down the road and did not catch fire, Schmidt said. The driver was extricated from the car, suffered serious injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital.Schmidt said the driver of the car was transported from the scene by Flight For Life with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was taken from the scene with minor injuries.Highway 33 was closed from the Horicon city line east to Highway 67. The road was reopened to traffic just after 6 p.m
