Albany, OR : Driver cited for Seven Mile crash on Saturday, 10th September 2016
A 19-year-old Halsey man has been charged in connection with a two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 34 and Seven Mile Lane.
Multiple agencies responded to the collision, which happened just after 4 p.m. between Albany and Lebanon.
Oregon State Police said a Dodge R15 pickup traveling northbound on Seven Mile Lane did not stop at the intersection and drove into the path of an Acura traveling west on Highway 34.
The pickup rolled over multiple times before settling upside down in a ditch.
Both drivers and three children from the Acura were taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
The drivers were Richard Nathanial Bird, 19, of Halsey, who was in the pickup, and Aaron Duran Kimberling, 31, of Corvallis, the driver of the Acura. The children were two girls, ages 3 and 10, and a boy, age 8, and were not identified by police.
Bird was charged with third-degree assault and reckless driving.
Three medic units from Albany, along with fire crews from Albany and Tangent, Oregon Department of Transportation incident response, the Linn County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police were all on scene.
The westbound lane of Highway 34 and the north side of Seven Mile Lane were briefly closed during the incident.
