Two drivers were arrested recently in single-car accident in Elmwood Township.

Shortly before 1 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a 2012 silver Subaru on the side of M-22 with extensive front end damage.

Upon arrival, deputies located a 17-year-old teen from Traverse City in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was heavily damaged but the driver could not or would not tell the deputy what he had struck.

An investigation determined the driver had gone off the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver was found to be under the influence of an unknown substance. He was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.

He was lodged in the Leelanau County Jail.

About 1:30 Sunday morning, deputies along with Elmwood Fire and Rescue, responded to M-22 south of East Lakeview Hills Road, on a report of a traffic crash.
