Leitchfield, KY : A Leitchfield woman was injured in a car crash on William Thomason Byway on February, Monday 12th 2018
A Leitchfield woman was injured in a car crash on William Thomason Byway on Friday afternoon, Feb. 9.
At around 12:17 p.m. on Friday, the Leitchfield Police Department, Leitchfield Fire Department, and Grayson County EMS (GCEMS) responded to a reported two-vehicle head-on collision at the intersection of William Thomason Byway (the bypass) and Wallace Avenue.
According to police, leading up to the crash, a white Ford Fusion, driven by Gene Gift, reportedly pulled out into the bypass and into the path of a green Ford Contour, which was driven by Marion Chaffins, of Leitchfield, and travelling westbound on the bypass.
The vehicles then collided, with both coming to a rest in the roadway.
Investigating Leitchfield Police Officer Jeff Helvey said Chaffins complained of chest pain as a result of the accident. She was transported from the scene of the crash by GCEMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Gift was not reported injured.
Additionally, some fluids leaked from the Ford Fusion into the roadway, so Leitchfield Fire Department personnel used an absorbent to soak them up.
Both cars were disabled as a result of the collision. The Ford Fusion was towed from the scene by Sonny's Wrecker Service, and the Ford Contour was towed by Stevenson's Wrecker Service.
