Peterborough, New Hampshire
A Jaffrey man was airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center for possibly life-threatening injuries after an accident, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, officials were called to Route 202 near the town line between Jaffrey and Peterborough for a three-car accident.
Officials said Leonard Gonthier, 54, was driving eastbound on Route 202 when he swerved his 2001 GMC Jimmy into the westbound lane and sideswiped a 2003 Ford Explorer. Officials said that caused the Ford to rollover and come to a rest in the middle of the roadway.
Officials said Gonthier then continued eastbound in the westbound lane and then collided head-on with a 2012 Subaru Impreza. They said Gonthier's car stopped off the westbound shoulder against a guardrail and the Impreza was in the breakdown lane.
The driver of the Ford Explorer. Cameron Vetter, 19, of Rindge, and his passenger, Karlee Daub, 18, of Rindge, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Monadnock Community Hospital where they were treated and released. Reed Leger, 32, of Merrimack, the driver of the Subaru, suffered more serious injuries but was also taken to the hospital, treated and then released.
Officials said after being extricated from his vehicle, Gonthier was taken to Mondnack Community Hospital with potential serious injuries. He was later airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, for possible life-threatening injuries.
Gonthier was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI. Officials said he was unable to be fully processed due to his injuries and that the crash is still under investigation.
