Salt Lake City, UT : Trooper stops wrong-way drunk driver with collision on Sunday, November 20th, 2016
An intoxicated driver's careening wrong-way ride on Interstate 15 in Davis County ended when a trooper intentionally crashed into the vehicle as it approached oncoming traffic, the Utah Highway Patrol says.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, troopers spotted the car traveling south in the northbound lanes about 5 miles northwest of Farmington. At one point, the vehicle struck the center concrete barrier, only to resume traveling the wrong way on the freeway.
A trooper who was slowing traffic ahead of the oncoming vehicle used his cruiser to strike the driver's side rear panel, disabling the vehicle.
The cruiser itself then struck the barrier wall, but neither the trooper nor the driver — who was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving — was injured.
