Beasley, TX : Seven injured after 18-wheeler, commercial bus crash in Fort Bend County on Wednesday, October 12, 2016

The damage to the front of a passenger bus indicates the force of the accident that sent seven people to the hospital near Beasley in Fort Bend County.

Victims were forced to climb out of the bus's emergency windows.

"All the things fell and we got hurt," said passenger Dei Artega, who was traveling with her mother and daughter. "My mom went the hospital. The ambulance took her."

DPS troopers said the bus was heading from Houston to the city of San Luis Potosi in Mexico -- a 750-mile journey.

The accident, they said, happened when the bus driver tried to pass an 18-wheeler on Highway 59 near FM 360.

"The bus driver noticed something strange with the bus," said Sgt. Carl Currie with the DPS. "He started to lose control and ran into the back end of the 18-wheeler."

The worst of the injuries appear to be a few broken bones.

After the investigation, troopers said citations could be a possibility, but none of the injuries appears to be life-threatening.

"I thank God that everybody's OK, that nobody died," said Artega. "Even though they went to the hospital, I know they're OK."

The bus was operated by Los Chaves Autobuses, based in Houston.
