Charleston County deputies responded to a traffic fatality involving a vehicle and two motorcycles Thursday night around 11 p.m.
Deputies report the crash happened on Folly Road near Joe Richardson Lane.
Deputies say a vehicle was traveling south on Folly Road and it drifted to the center for unknown reasons. The two motorcycles were traveling north when the car struck the leading motorcycle first, causing the rider to be thrown. Deputies say he wasn't wearing a helmet. The driver also hit the second motorcycle and that rider was thrown, not wearing a helmet.
According to the report, the rider of the first motorcycle was transported to Medical University of South Carolina, where he later died. He's identified as 55-year-old Jeffery Shirling of Folly Beach.
The rider of the second motorcycle was transported to MUSC, with serious injuries, and still remains there.
The driver of the vehicle has minor injuries and was transported to MUSC.
This accident is actively being investigated by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
