CHARLOTTE, NC : 1 person killed after crash on John Belk Freeway on Tuesday, 4h June 2024

One person has died and two others were hurt after a crash on the Interstate 277 inner loop early Tuesday morning. Medic confirmed their paramedics had responded to the crash on I-277 near Interstate 77 around 3 a.m., noting the two other people who were injured had minor injuries. CMPD did not mention the other injuries in its news release on the death investigation.
A portion of the freeway was closed due to the investigation, impacting traffic near the exit for Brooklyn Village Avenue and South Boulevard. The road reopened around 9 a.m.
