DeKALB, TX : Three teens die in early morning crash on Sunday, 8th November, 2020
Three area teens died early Sunday morning in a crash near DeKalb, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The one-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m, when the driver, Katelyn Vaughn,17, of Simms, Texas, was traveling southbound on County Road 3302. DPS officials said she apparently lost control of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu once the car entered a corner.
The car left the roadway and overturned before landing submerged in a creek, about 6 miles north of DeKalb.
Besides the driver, two passengers, Megan Daniel, 17 and Ashlin Cox, 19, both of New Boston, Texas, were also pronounced dead at the scene by Bowie County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Catie Hawkins.
The crash remains under investigation.
