Union, NY : A 4-year-old girl has died after a sport utility vehicle hit a car carrying the child at Johnson City Central School District bus garage On Sunday May 8th, 2016

Officials say a 4-year-old girl has died in upstate New York after a sport utility vehicle hit a car carrying the child.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office says authorities responded Sunday afternoon to the crash near the Johnson City Central School District bus garage in the Town of Union.

A preliminary investigation shows an SUV hit a sedan. The child died at the scene.

Police say the drivers were hospitalized with injuries.

The names of those involved in the crash aren't being released until their families have been notified.

Authorities are investigating.
