Clovis, NM : Four people injured in a crash involving a city of Clovis Public Works truck on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2016
A Tuesday morning crash involving a city of Clovis Public Works truck sent four people to the hospital, city officials said.
All four of the injured were traveling in a car that collided with the sanitation truck at the intersection of Prince Street and Brady Avenue.
Their injuries ranged from a cut on the driver’s arm to one passenger reported as possibly unconscious, city officials said.
While all four were initially taken to Plains Regional Medical Center, an 88-year-old female in the car was taken to a Lubbock hospital.
Conditions of the injured were not provided by city officials.
The accident happened about 11:30 a.m.
The sanitation truck was traveling west on Brady, crossing the intersection at Prince Street, when it collided with the car.
By 11:40 a.m., emergency responders including police, firefighters and paramedics, were at the scene, tending to the injured and cleaning up the wreckage.
The road was not closed, but traffic along Brady was directed through the Allsup’s parking lot.
Clovis City Manager Larry Fry said the sanitation truck, driven by Jesus Garcia, was “significantly damaged,” as was the car.
Garcia was not injured.
Police said the accident was still under investigation Tuesday afternoon and no citations were announced.
