OMAHA, NE : Woman killed in a westbound crash on I-80 on Monday, August 21, 2017

Omaha Police have identified the woman killed in a westbound crash on I-80 Monday.Joan R. Ocampo-Yambing, 19, died in the collision. Five others were transported with serious injuries.

Omaha Police and Omaha Fire Departments responded to Interstate 80 westbound just to the west of the 84th Street underpass just after 11 a.m.

Accident investigators said 69-year-old Robert J. Richmond was driving a semi-truck westbound on Interstate 80 when he failed to notice traffic had slowed. Richmond collided with the rear-end of a white 2013 Toyota Prius.

After the collision with the Prius, the front of the semi-truck collided with the rear-end of a blue 2008 Chrysler Sebring. This collision forced the front-end of the Sebring into the rear-end of a "roll off" trailer being pulled by a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck. Both occupants of the Sebring were pinned underneath the Peterbilt semi-truck.

The driver of the Prius, Demetra N. Arvanitakis of Kansas, is being treated for skull fractures, back a back injury and severe concussion. The front passenger, Madalene L. Steichen of Oklahoma is being treated for a facial fracture and a head laceration. The right rear passenger, William Tavis, is being treated for facial fractures and lacerations. Ocampo-Yambing was riding in the back of the Prius. She was pronounced dead at an Omaha hospital.

The driver of the Sebring, Kimberly Davlin is being treated for a left arm injury. The front passenger of the Sebring, Joyce Cramer is being treated for internal injuries.

Creightion University Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson posted an online post that "several Creighton students were involved."

"University officials are at the hospital, but we do not have additional information to share with the campus community at this time," the statement read."I ask that we all join together in prayer for the students, their families, and their classmates, and please join me for a prayer service this evening at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Church."

The crash remains under investigation.
